Digestive enzymes
These are found throughout our digestive system and facilitate digestion and absorption of the foods we eat. They include specific protein, carbohydrate and fat-digesting enzymes in our saliva, stomach, pancreas and liver. Without them foods cannot be absorbed resulting in malnutrition, starvation and ultimately death. Digestion places a substantial demand on our body's enzyme reserves.
Systemic enzymes
These support the running and repair of our body. From cellular repair to mental function, every step of every action in our body requires a new and specialized enzyme. Without these our body grinds to a halt. Unhealthy lifestyle choices such as smoking, drinking and exposure to pollution and stress further drain our enzyme reserves.
Food enzymes
Rich supplies of these are found in fresh raw foods. They directly supplement our digestive enzymes, containing the specific balance required to digest the food in which they are present and release its nutrients. This reduces the enzymatic requirements placed upon our digestive system and preserves its finite supply.
Food enzymes are destroyed by heat
There is a catch. Food enzymes are very sensitive and destroyed by heat. By 41° C the damage has set in and by 48° C all are dead - less than half of boiling point and far less than baking or frying.
Enzymes and aging
Enzyme depletion is an important factor in aging and results in compromised digestion, reduced immune response, slowed wound healing and less energy. In studies conducted by Doctor Meyer and his associates at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, they found the enzymatic concentration of saliva in young adults was more than 30 times that of those over the age of 69 years, suggesting that death itself may result from the exhaustion of our internal enzyme supply.
Food enzymes and the return of youth
Food enzymes have been shown to contribute to restoring health and vitality on all levels. They reduce the demands of digestion on our body preserving our supply of enzymes. This improves digestion, nutrient absorption and cellular repair while increasing energy. Adding more raw foods to your diet will enhance internal and external vitality.
Supplemental enzymes
High quality supplemental enzymes, which further replenish our body's enzyme needs, are also beneficial. Taken before meals they further ease digestion, minimizing symptoms associated with enzyme depletion. The surplus will be redirected for healing, rebuilding or restoring, depending on our body's requirements.
So turn back the clock with enzymes. Whether you replenish them through raw foods or supplements, the more you take the better you can support your body. Enzymes may well be the key to the fountain of youth so indulge yourself and enjoy your enhanced vitality!
