Shine All Summer!

The countdown to summer has started. Whether you’re on vacation or going about your daily routine at home, your skin will be exposing you throughout the summer. If you are dreaming of healthy glowing skin, there’s still time!

Give your pores a break

For healthier and more vibrant skin during the summer, do a spring cleaning of the toxins and dirt that invaded your skin and exhausted your pores during winter before summer starts. Therapies like a steam bath or Turkish bath are helpful. If sweating in high temperatures is intimidating, you can also try an Infrasalair sauna, which is heated below 50° C.

Review your skincare products

When the weather warms up, you should change the skincare products you used in the colder months. This is because our complexion, which is drier in winter, produces more oil in the summer. Opt for lighter moisturizers with sun protection, facial masks that can help with excess oil (for example, using a mud mask instead of a moisturizing mask) and toner.

Outer beauty from within

Every morsel you put in your mouth determines the quality of your health as well as the appearance of your skin. Based on the idea of ‘you are what you eat’, for glowing and elastic skin throughout the summer drink plenty of good quality water and eat skin-friendly foods like flax seed, almonds, pumpkin seeds and avocado. These are rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acids which our body needs but doesn’t produce. Their oils can also be used for a skin-pampering massage.

No more tanning like in your youth!

The sun’s brilliant rays illuminate us, but can also burn us if we’re not careful. Always use a good sunscreen made from natural ingredients and apply it at least every two hours. During the hours when the sun is strongest, stay in the shade. If you do get sunburn, make a paste with baking soda and warm water and apply frequently, or smooth on refreshing plants like Aloe vera to the burned area. Flaky, peeling skin is meant to help you; if your skin starts to peel, don’t remove the layers as they create a protective barrier. Make sure the moisturizer you use contains sunscreen.

End the nightmare of cellulite

As summer approaches many women are engrossed by the nightmare of cellulite, but it is not inevitable. The only things your complexion and problem areas need are simple solutions like massage and drinking more water. Using a dry skin brush every day before bathing improves blood circulation, helps your skin breathe better, and prevents cellulite and varicose veins. Following a warm shower with a cold shower burst also helps increase circulation, as does regular exercise.
