Salt Therapy

Salt therapy, also known as Halotherapy or Speleotherapy, is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that relieves numerous respiratory illnesses.

Modern salt rooms replicate the microclimate of natural salt mines, which have been used since ancient times to heal miners and people suffering respiratory problems. Salt rooms have a stable temperature and humidity level and lack airborne pollutants such as pollens and dust. The walls are lined with mineral rock salt which creates a sterilized and negative ion environment. As you relax, salt micro-particles are emitted into the room the size of 1 to 10 micrometers. Through breathing, they enter the nose, throat, and lungs and start the healing process. Particles larger than 5 micrometers remain in the nose and throat, while smaller particles penetrate deep into the lungs.

Salt rooms are used to treat upper and lower respiratory problems including allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cold and flu, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, hay fever, rhinitis, sinus infections and sinusitis. The anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of micro-particle salt are also effective for treating ear infections and skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.

Some of the benefits of halotherapy include:

  • Improves bronchial inflammation
  • Strengthens the immune system which decreases allergic reactions to pollens
  • Cleanses airways
  • Prevents and treats the common cold and flu
  • Improves dermatological problems such as acne, dermatitis, and psoriasis
  • Reduces snoring
  • Improves sleep
